Frequently Asked Questions
Questions from our neighbors.
We believe in transparency. Here are honest answers to the questions we hear most often.
What is the Roxbury 24/7 campus?
Roxbury 24/7 is a proposed hyperscale data center campus in the Roxbury corridor of Oxford, Michigan. It is planned to deliver 300 MW of IT capacity in phases, supporting cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and the digital services our neighbors rely on every day.
How loud will the campus be?
At the property line, campus operations are designed to be no louder than Lapeer Road at rush hour.
The main difference is duration. Lapeer Road has a rush hour. The campus has a rush day, a rush week, and a rush year.
Will the campus operate at night?
Yes. And in the morning, afternoon, and evening. The campus does not close for weekends, holidays, or inclement weather. It is, after all, in the name.
Will the campus affect my well water?
Evenhold will make every reasonable effort to avoid impacting private wells. Our cooling design draws on shared local groundwater, and we will monitor aquifer levels closely.
Any measurable decrease in water quality is expected to remain within a range we consider perfectly safe.
Over time, some residents may notice minor changes, such as a light amber tint, a faint mineral note, or a subtle warmth. These are normal characteristics of water that has been working hard on behalf of the digital economy.
We recommend letting the tap run for a moment before use. Most residents find that after a few seconds the water is cool enough to drink, and after a few weeks they no longer notice the taste.
Residents with concerns may request a visit from our Well Water Quality Ambassador, who will sample your water and describe it to you.
Will my property taxes go up?
Once the campus is operational, some residents may feel as though their property tax bill has doubled. It has not. It has increased by a more modest amount we are not able to share at this time.
Will my electricity rates go up?
Regional electricity rates are shaped by many factors, including the arrival of large new customers such as ourselves.
Any increase in your monthly bill should be understood not as a cost, but as residents investing in the regional grid. Evenhold is proud to be the grid's largest beneficiary and, through you, its most generous supporter.
Will I still be able to see the stars?
The campus's 24/7 site illumination is designed for safety, security, and around-the-clock operational visibility.
Survey data suggests most residents rarely look up. For those who do, the campus's soft glow offers a reliable, cloud-independent point of reference.
Residents who miss the stars are welcome to visit the Night Sky Experience in our campus lobby.
When are the backup generators tested?
Backup generators are tested weekly, every Tuesday at 6 a.m. Residents tell us it beats any alarm clock. Many have stopped setting one.
Will the hum ever stop?
No. The hum is the sound of the campus doing its job.
In the unlikely event the hum stops, please contact us immediately, as something has gone very wrong.
How big is the Proximity Zone?
For the purposes of our Proximity Guarantee, our engineers have defined the Proximity Zone as 1.8 miles.
In conversation, the Proximity Zone is whatever size is most reassuring to the listener.
Can I opt out?
The Roxbury 24/7 campus is designed as an inclusive community experience. Opting out is currently available to residents who relocate outside the Proximity Zone (1.8 miles from the campus).
